Pool Opening & Closing

Standard Pool Opening Includes:

  • Re-installation of filters, pumps, hoses, return skimmer baskets, pump baskets, and return fittings.
  • Inspection and lubrication of pump gaskets, o-rings, and seals. If any parts need replacing Dartmouth Pools and Spas can replace them for you – parts are not included in price.
  • Unwinterize plumbing lines and start system
  • Cover will be taken off and stored in a placed specified by the customer, otherwise, left next to pool if customer is not home and has not left a storage spot for Dartmouth Pools and Spas technicians.
  • Addition of liquid chlorine and algaecide to begin sanitizing the pool.
  • Additional add-ons available.
After initial opening of the pool, you should bring a water sample into Dartmouth Pools and Spas and have the water analyzed by our Lamotte water analysis machine and be advised on how to balance your pool for a safe and fun summer!

Standard Pool Closing Includes:

  • Covering the pools with a winter safety cover or tarp cover and water cubes.
  • Removal and storage of handrails and ladders.
  • Remove skimmer baskets, pump baskets, returns, etc.
  • Winterize all plumbing lines and pool equipment.
  • Blow out all plumbing lines and add pool safe anti-freeze to the lines.
  • Liquid chlorine and algaecide added to the pool water prior to putting on the cover.
  • Clean filter internals (DE & cartridge filter only).

Important Notices Regarding Pool Closings:

  • Water level in the pool must be lowered to the appropriate level prior to the technician’s arrival.
  • Crews will need access to water and electricity at the time of the closing.
  • Technicians must have access around a perimeter of the pool to install covers.
